About the Seminar

The seminar on "Career Development as an Ongoing Lifelong Process" will be held to provide a platform for sharing of experiences and good practices from a global perspective by leading figures in lifelong learning and career development. In this 3-hour seminar, four speakers from different parts of the world will bring together their views and insights on issues and experiences that would best characterise the understanding and practice of career development in the regions they represent. It would be a great privilege to hear their inspiring sharing at the seminar.

Distinguished Speakers

Dr. Thomas Clawson
President and CEO, National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates (NBCC), USA
Under his leadership, NBCC has expanded its influence in counseling in the United States and abroad, has created the NBCC International division and the NBCC Foundation, and has maintained strong relationships with other national and international organizations. As an affiliate to NBCC, the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) runs a range of professional programmes, including Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) that has reached out to 15 countries and regions in the world.

Dean Marilynn Booth
Dean, School of Continuing Studies, University of Toronto, Canada
Ms. Booth has assumed a leadership role in continuing education for over 30 years, and she adopts a learner-centred, market responsive, and innovative approach to the development and management of educational ventures, often in collaboration with public and private corporate partners, both local and overseas.

Keeping continuing education relevant in a changing world – a Canadian perspective

Ms. Chiao-Ling Hsu
CEO, Center for Credentialing and Education – Asia, and Chief Operating Officer, Ambow Education Group
Ms. Hsu has over 15 years of operating and management experience in the education industry. She was Chief Executive Officer of Hwa Kang Foundation, the largest lifelong learning institution in Taiwan, and Executive Director, Chinese Culture University, School of Continuing Education (SCE), Taiwan. As CEO of CCE (Asia), Ms. Hsu played a pivotal role in introducing and marketing the GCDF programme in Taiwan and China.

Dr. Ella Chan
Director, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Dr. Chan's career has traversed a variety of roles as teacher, teacher trainer, counselling psychologist, and educator- administrator. Besides her successive directorships with two major providers for continuing education in Hong Kong, she is Immediate Past President of The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association and Board members of secondary school and seminary. She is also a certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and GCDF Trainer.
